Medical Terminology

Have you ever watched an advertisement, tv show, or movie and wondered what the doctors were saying? After taking this course, students will be knowledgeable with the language of the healthcare field of the cardiovascular, respiratory, nervous, musculoskeletal, digestive, and immune systems.

Body Systems

Through out the week we will we exploring 6 different body systems the cardiovascular, respiratory, nervous, musculoskeletal, digestive system, and immune system. Each system will have its own designated day where we will cover its functions. Throughout the lesson we will cover the organs that make up the body system, and their functions they provide in the human body. In addition to the specific systems, we will present relevant healthcare professions. This way we can expose our students and spark their interest in future healthcare careers.

Diseases

Alongside the 6 body systems being taught each day, our students will learn about a few diseases related to the specific body system. We plan on teaching how some common diseases develop and ways everyone can prevent such diseases. Furthermore, will also shine light on uncommon diseases caused by genetic disorders.

COVID-19/Viruses

On the last day of the camp we plan on teaching our students about viruses like the common flu and the current COVID-19.  We will cover how these viruses behave resulting in their ability to spread on large scales. Students will learn how our body responds to these viruses in regards to our immune system. They will also learn preventative methods on how slow the spread of such viruses.
